I’m so proud of Scott and the article that was published about him yesterday (and I love that Summer is even mentioned…way to go, my babies!)

WILV-FM Hires New Producer For Robert Murphy Morning ShowWritten by LarzTuesday, 27 September 2011 18:15
WILV-FM/Rewind 100.3 has hired a new producer for their new morning show. Chicago radio veteran Scott Straus is the new producer for Robert Murphy’s program, reuniting the two who previously worked well together at WXXY-FM in the late 1990’s.
After many years away from the Chicagoairwaves, Robert Murphy surprised everybody this summer by returning to morning radio, not once, but twice. In August, Murphy hosted a morning show on the temporary Adult Contemporary station airing on Merlin Media’s WWWN-FM, just prior to its flip to news. That stunt lasted only a week and a half. However, that brief time on the air led to Hubbard Broadcasting contacting “Murph” to have him come to Rewind 100.3 to help boost their morning show ratings, only this time as a long-term solution, not a stunt. Murphy accepted and started there on September 8th. He can now be heard each weekday from 5:30am-10:00am.
Murphy was a top-rated radio superstar on WKQX-FM for a decade in the 80’s and early 90s, as well as stints on WLS-FM and WXXY-FM. Unlike his past full-time shows in Chicago, his new WILV-FM morning show is more music-intensive, with Murph’s upbeat personality shining through in-between the music.
However, even though there is less Robert Murphy being heard than with his previous shows, that doesn’t mean there is no Murphy. There was still a need for a top producer to help keep the show moving along, book guests, screen callers, make sure its is technically sound, and make the program better for all. WILV-FM started the search for a new producer almost immediately. Many dozens of applications were entered, but there was one that stood out from the pack to station management and to Robert Murphy himself. That being the application of Scott Straus.
Straus was the Production Director and more for Clear Channel Chicago’s WKSC-FM and WLIT-FM for over 11 years. He “retired” from radio last month to spend time at home and be with his newborn baby daughter. Then the WILV-FM opportunity arose this month…
Prior to his many years at Clear Channel, Straus was a Producer at WSCR-AM, WRCX-FM and, most importantly WXXY-FM. It was at WXXY-FM where Straus first worked with Robert Murphy as his producer.
Today’s hire marks a reunion of the duo. Not only are the two working on the same show together once again, but they are both back on a station that is heavily dominated by 80’s music. (During Murphy & Straus’ time at WXXY-FM, the station quickly flipped from its “Heart & Soul” format to an all-80’s format.)
Scott Straus now joins the new “Murphy in the Morning” show that also features Susan Wiencek on News.
